An 11-year-old girl

is in her nth constructive surgery

for an ear that refused to be born

and has caused embarrassment her whole life

her parents had bought the sterile kits

for her to wake up with unexpected gifts

of pierced lobes and starter studs

but the ENTs find themselves

afraid to pull the triggers.
