Disclosure of Competing Interests

Academic Psychiatry editors, editorial board members, and advisory board members have declared all forms of support received that may represent a competing interest in relation to their work for the Journal, as follows:

David A. Baron, MSEd, D.O., receives NIMH funding and holds the copyright on the BDSA (a depression screener for athletes).

Linda Gask, M.D., has served on an advisory board for Eli Lilly and Wyeth and received research funding from Pfizer and Servier Pharmaceuticals.

Stephen M. Goldfinger, M.D., has attended a speaker training session sponsored by Merck but has not given talks for Merck. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at SUNY Downstate, where he is chair, receives, or has received, grant support from NIMH, NIDA, NIAAA, Janssen, Pfizer, Schering, Lilly, AstraZeneca. Although Dr. Goldfinger is a co-investigator on several of these research projects, he receives no remuneration from any of them. He has served as a paid consultant for Teva/Ivax Pharmaceuticals. He serves on the Editorial Board of a number of "competing" publications, including Psychiatric Services, Community Mental Health Journal, and Schizophrenia Digest. He owns small (under $10,000) amounts of stock in Lilly, Johnson and Johnson, and Pfizer. He has been close friends for much of his life with August Moretti, JD, the CFO of Alexza Pharmaceuticals.

Waguih William IsHak, M.D., has a research grant with Pfizer on Geodon in Major Depressive Disorder.

Michael Jibson, M.D., derives 4.2% of his income from his activity on the AstraZeneca Speakers Bureau marketing quetiapine and receives royalties comprising 1.7% of his income from Up-to-Date for writing educational materials on psychotic disorders and antipsychotic medications.

John Lauriello, M.D., has served on advisory boards for Eli Lilly and Janssen Ortho-McNeil and is a non-paid consultant on an NIMH Grant, which receives free medications from several pharmaceutical companies, including Janssen, Eli Lilly, AstraZeneca, BMS, and Pfizer.

Russell Lim, M.D., has received educational grants from Pfizer, Inc. and AstraZeneca.

Philip R. Muskin, M.D., has given promotional talks, as defined by the FDA, for AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb and is on the Advisory Board of the advocacy group Anxiety Disorders Association of America.

Thomas Newmark, M.D., is a member of the speaker's bureau for AstraZeneca.

Derek Puddester, M.D., M.Ed., F.R.C.P.C., is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and a voluntary advisor to CME@SEA, a continuing medical education company, for which he receives nonmonetary compensation.

Laura Roberts, M.D., owns Terra Nova Learning Systems.

Jerome Schultz, Ph.D., serves on the advisory board of www.insideADHD.org, an educational website funded by Shire Pharmaceutical Development, Inc., and has served as a consultant on the development of an ADHD toolkit for parents of children with ADHD.

Paul Summergrad, M.D., serves as a consultant for American Well, Inc.

Art Walaszek, M.D., has served as a consultant for Terra Nova Learning Systems.

Sidney Zisook, M.D., has received research support from Pam Lab.
