Homeless and downcast, he slumps deeply in the exam chair—elbows on knees—waiting. Heavy smoker. Oral cancer. Two trainees assess his scans.

“How soon? Great case! Tongue resection! Neck dissection!”

“How sad! No support … Scared … He does not understand.”

They turn.

Both are correct. I put down my pen and select who will assist.
